If you have an older Nest Learning Thermostat in your home, you’ll want to know about some important changes coming later this year.
Google has just announced that it will end software support for first and second-generation Nest thermostats – including the 2014 European version – from October 25, 2025. This means you’ll no longer be able to control your heating remotely through the Nest app or Google Assistant.
You’ll still be able to adjust your heating manually by using the thermostat itself, but a lot of the smart functionality that made Nest so appealing will unfortunately be switched off.
And it’s not just a short-term fix – Google has also confirmed they have no plans to release new Nest thermostats in Europe. Once the current stock is sold out, that’s it.
